3D Animation and blender

3D:

- Pixar

- 3D has bones and rigs.
- Have to weight objects in 3D animation
- 3D uses models
- 3D rendering takes longer
- 3D gives a wider range of textures.

2D:

- Disney

- 2D is hand drawn
- 2D cheated depth
- 2D frame by frame
- 2D time consuming



Blender-

- 3D model maker

Mouse Controls:

right click- select
left click- placement of 3D point
scroll- zoom in and out
shift + scroll- move up and down
hold scroll- move around the axis

Shortcuts:
- E = extrude
- S = scale
- A = select/ un-select all
- number-pad 5 = ortho view
- number-pad 1 = front view
the saber was made out of re-shaped cylinders.







I also experimented with the sculpt option managing to create a face.i used a UV sphere and shaped it into the basic shape then added two more 'spheres for the eyes and torus for the lips and under eyelids.















i was experimenting on creating curves in objects using the E & S shortcut technique.

the result of that was a pot/ urn shaped shape.











We have started to use blender for animation. Here i have made a bouncing ball using squash and stretch and arc.we used the shortcuts: sz to re-size along the z axis and r to rotate to create this effect.
We have now created a simple walking cycle on blender, using a animated reference to map the key points.
